Dubai Technopark
Dubai, UAE
Gary Johnson led the PDI World Group team to a second place international design competition for Dubai Technopark for Jafza, a global port owner and developer of large scale commercial projects. The design evolved out of a studio taught by New York architect Fred Levrat at Columbia University. An enormous curtain of stainless steel mesh fabric is secured over simple building forms, to create a unique and sustainable design. The fabric will shade the building from the harsh sun, filter desert sand, and be screen for projecting promotional media. The tent image which has come to symbolize the place for hospitality.
